Students in grades 1–5 will participate in MAP Testing from April 20–29. Students in grades 3–5 will then take the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments throughout the month of May. We hope that any appointments and/or trips can be scheduled around our testing dates. Thank you.
At its meeting on March 26, the School Board approved a change to designate April 21 as a no-school day for students, due to a special election. Staff will participate in countywide professional learning.
April is Month of the Military Child which is a time to recognize our military-affiliated students. APS will join the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) in honoring Purple Up Day on April 15. Students and staff are encouraged to wear purple to celebrate military students. MCEC provides a number of free resources for schools in planning events for Month of the Military Child and Purple Up Day.
